Creative Jazz Vocal Artist, Composer, Poet, Lyricist, Writer, Educator, Nora McCarthy has been a member of the advanced New York Jazz Scene since 1996. Nora has been associated with Medicine Show Theatre since 2014 when she was introduced to Barbara Vann by long-time MST Ensemble members, Mark Gerring and Yasha Bilan who were also former long time members, along with Nora, of the highly esteemed, Chorus of Poets founded by Visionary Conductor, Lawrence D. "Butch" Morris.

Since that time Nora has produced an Evening of Improvised Music, "Expanding on Configurations of Sound and Language" at MST with some of New York's finest improvising musicians and poets and most recently, the"Take It OUT Tuesday", monthly series presenting performances that featured avant-garde, experimental and creative jazz artists,  instrumentalists, vocal artists, visual and movement artists, and poets, as well as participating in the Jump Start Reading Series.  

Nora's masterclass, July 18, VOCAL FREEDOM - focuses on the vocal artist:  modern vocal techniques, vocal improvisation, sound production, jazz, avant-garde and free form singing, harmolodics in ensemble singing, and creating a soundscape.
